Voices from our volunteer community

Taronish Dastoor
Marketing Manager for Michael Page Middle East and Africa
Volunteer Role: Digital Marketing Cohort, mock interviews
Volunteering with Generation Ghana to interview digital marketing candidates was such a refreshing experience. What I loved most was getting to interact with such smart, curious candidates who were genuinely eager to learn. Their questions weren’t just surface level – they showed real depth and understanding of digital marketing, which honestly blew me away. It reminded me how much passion and drive can make a difference, no matter where you are in your career journey.
What made the experience truly special was being able to share practical advice and see that immediate spark of confidence when something clicked for them. It felt great knowing that a few words of encouragement or a bit of feedback could genuinely help someone move closer to their goals.
Personally, it was a grounding experience. It reminded me why mentorship and sharing knowledge are so important. We get caught up in our day-to-day work, and this was a great reminder of the bigger picture: helping others grow and succeed. Professionally, it was also inspiring to see how much new talent is out there, driven, informed, and ready to make an impact.
One moment that really stood out was during a conversation where a candidate connected digital strategy theory to a real-world brand example. They explained it better than I’ve heard in some professional meetings! It was a proud and humbling moment all at once.
I felt grateful coming out of the session. It’s amazing how giving just a few hours of your time can open your eyes and make you feel part of something bigger.
